contextual design
The ornamental tradition in the past unified architecture, interiors, and objects into integrated artworks - but artworks maybe forgot the human being living in it. Today's spaces, having largely rejected a traditional sense of ornament, derives character mainly from scattered objects. She sees this as "fast content design" that brings a haste to the design field; creating an oversaturation of novelty, uniqueness and desire.
Yani’s work wants to be a counterbalance by prioritising design that elevates context & honest simplicity over self-expression; finding love in nuance. Design that enriches its environment by mainly going in dialoge with the space and its user.
