S2 - mirror vase

Inspired by the old shoe scrapers found on old home-facades. S2 started from fascination how small tufts of grass and weeds would grow inside those little wall recesses; nature quietly reclaiming space.

By researching the history of these shoescrapers, the design is a representation of how our relationship with nature has shifted over time. Starting from its origin in the romantic era’s where wander and wonder in nature shifted towards the today’s culture of the consumption of it.

This design draws inspiration from the architectural detailing of those scrapers, creating an illusion of depth. Instead of framing store-bought bouquets, S2 highlights the beauty of a single, home-grown flower.
